What is it and what is the cause?
Sweating is a normal function of our bodies but when it becomes excessive it can affect your life in a negative way. Excessive Sweating is medically known as hyperhidrosis and is often a very debilitating, embarrassing condition, causing a person to sweat excessively and much more than the body needs to in order to regulate its temperature. It is fairly common in the UK, with a suspected one million sufferers.
The most commonly affected area is the underarms, comprising 50 percent of reported cases. However, hyperhidrosis can affect many parts of the body, including hands, feet and the face.
Treatments
Botulinum toxin (commonly known as Botox) stops sweating for up to 9 months. A series of tiny injections just under the surface of the skin takes around 30 minutes and relatively pain free. So if excessive sweating is affecting you whether underarms, palms, feet or head, this treatment may be for you.
