Thread Veins / Redness

facial thread veins

Facial thread veins are the tiny vessels that are underneath our skin which can become damaged in extreme temperatures such as sitting in the sun or skiing. You may be more affected if you work outdoors a great deal e.g. builders or gardeners. Rosacea suffers may also suffer from facial thread veins. These can be treated using IPL treatment usually requiring between 1 - 3 sessions a month apart.

Facial thread veins can often appear as skin becomes thinner as we age. These broken vessels or thread veins as they are known ,can become more visible as areas of redness on the cheeks and corners or end of the nose. This gives the skin an uneven appearance which clinical trials show makes us look older than lines and wrinkles.

Facial thread veins can be confused with a condition called Rosacea can also lead to clusters of the broken vessels as well as generalised redness on the nose and cheeks and gets worse with heat, spicy foods and/or alcohol consumption.

Both IPL and Laser treat these broken veins very effectively and usually require 1-3 treatments depending on how superficial they are. A test patch is required at least 48 hours before treatment.
