What is it and what is the cause?
Back acne, also known as “bacne,” is a common skin condition characterised by the presence of acne lesions on the back and shoulders. There are various types of acne lesions, such as blackheads, whiteheads, papules, pustules, and even more severe forms like nodules and cysts.
Excessive sweating, especially when wearing tight clothing, can contribute to bacne. Exposure to dust, dirt, and oil on bedding or unwashed blankets can also clog pores and lead to acne formation. Genetics may play a role, as a family history of acne can increase your susceptibility. Hormonal changes, such as those that occur during puberty or pregnancy, can trigger increased acne activity.
