Dermal Fillers
About this treatment
Dermal fillers are virtually identical to the HA (hyaluronic acid) we have in our skin so the risk of any reaction is very small. This procedure helps to instantly ‘fill out’ and smooth away lines such as nose to mouth and ‘droopy’ mouth corners. Dermal fillers are also very effective for instantly increasing fullness and plumpness to thin lips, enhancing sunken cheeks, temples and can even be used to re-shape the nose.
Results last between 6 and 18 months depending on the area being treated. Areas that require thicker product to promote lift ie: cheeks will generally last longer than a softer product used in areas such as the lips.
Treatment benefits
Wrinkle Reduction: Dermal fillers can effectively reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, particularly in areas like the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and crow's feet.
Volume Restoration: They can restore lost volume in the cheeks, temples, and other facial areas, providing a more youthful and plump appearance.
Lip Enhancement: Dermal fillers can be used to add volume and shape to the lips, enhancing their fullness and definition.
Contouring and Sculpting: Dermal fillers are often used to contour and shape the face, creating more defined cheekbones, jawlines, and chin contours.
Hydration and Skin Quality: Some of our dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid, which can improve skin hydration and quality by attracting and retaining moisture.
Natural-Looking Results: At Sandon, our dermal fillers provide natural-looking results that enhance the patient's features without appearing overdone.
The procedure
- During the consultation, you'll discuss your concerns, goals, and medical history. The practitioner will evaluate your facial anatomy and skin condition to determine the most appropriate dermal filler and treatment plan for you.
- Depending on the type of dermal filler and the treatment area, a topical numbing cream or local anaesthesia may be applied to minimise discomfort during the procedure.
- The practitioner will carefully inject the selected dermal filler into the target areas, using a fine needle or a cannula (a blunt-tipped, flexible tube) for more precise and controlled placement.
- It's important to be aware of potential side effects, which may include swelling, bruising, redness, and mild discomfort.

Frequently asked questions
Many people find their procedure at Sandon more comfortable than expected, and most dermal fillers contain a local anaesthetic. Our medical practitioners are highly skilled and precise; you should merely feel a light sting on your skin during the injection procedure.
Immediately after the treatment, patients may experience slight redness, swelling or tenderness around the area that has been treated. They may also experience raised or inflamed skin as well as itching in the treatment area. These side effects are completely natural and tend to subside in one to two days for the vast majority of patients who experience them.
Dermal fillers are commonly used on areas like the cheeks, lips, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and under the eyes.
