IPL Skin Rejuvenation
About this treatment
Facial thread veins are the tiny vessels that are underneath our skin which can become damaged in extreme temperatures such as sitting in the sun or skiing. You may be more affected if you work outdoors a great deal e.g. builders or gardeners. Rosacea sufferers may also suffer from facial thread veins. These can be treated using IPL treatment usually requiring between 1 - 3 sessions a month apart.
Treatment benefits
Improved Skin Appearance: Treating facial thread veins can lead to a significant improvement in the appearance of your skin. Red or purple spider veins on the face can be aesthetically displeasing and may cause self-consciousness. Treatment can help reduce or eliminate their visibility, leading to clearer, more even-toned skin.
Enhanced Confidence: Many people with facial thread veins feel self-conscious about their appearance. Reducing or eliminating these visible veins can boost your self-confidence and make you feel more comfortable in your skin.
Relief from Symptoms: In some cases, facial thread veins may be associated with uncomfortable symptoms, such as burning, itching, or a feeling of heat on the skin. Treating these veins can help alleviate these discomforts.
Improved Skin Health: IPL treatments for facial thread veins, can also improve overall skin health by stimulating collagen production and promoting a healthier complexion.
Minimally Invasive: IPL for facial thread veins are minimally invasive, meaning they do not require surgery or extensive recovery periods. Patients can often return to their daily activities shortly after treatment.
Long-Lasting Results: While individual results can vary, many patients experience long-lasting results following treatment for facial thread veins. However, new veins may develop over time, especially if the underlying cause (such as sun damage or genetics) is not addressed.
The procedure
- Your skin may be cleaned, and a cooling gel may be applied to the treatment area.
- The IPL device emits intense pulsed light that targets the thread veins. You may wear protective eyewear during the procedure.
- The IPL device releases controlled pulses of light, which are absorbed by the blood vessels, causing them to coagulate and collapse
- You may receive post-treatment instructions, including avoiding sun exposure, using sunscreen, and practicing good skincare.
- Several treatment sessions may be required for optimal results, spaced several weeks apart.

Frequently asked questions
IPL for thread veins feels a little bit like an elastic band being snapped against the skin. It is very tolerable. We will consult a patch test before we carry out the treatment to be sure you are happy.
The veins that are treated will be permanently reduced. However, if you are prone to getting them or have environmental factors that may make you develop them you may see new ones appearing. These, too, can be treated.
